Description
After the Roman sculpture found in Pompeii in 1830, currently housed in the Museo Archeologico Nazionale, Naples, Italy. An Italian School, late 19th/ early 20th century, bronze figural sculpture depicting a dancing satyr or faun, a woodland creature in ancient Greek culture, depicted with horse's ears and a tail, the figure having curly hair held back by a cord, striding forward with his right leg and reaching up with left hand as he turns his face upward. Sculpture to a rectangular polished stone plinth. Overall approximately 14 7/8" x 4 1/2" x 4 3/4".
