Carlos Cruz-Diez (b. 1923)

Born in Caracas, Carlos Cruz-Diez studied at the local School of Fine Arts and then worked as a graphic designer, illustrator and comic artist. In 1959 Cruz-Diez created his first op-art paintings from the series of ‘Couleur additives’ and ‘Physiochromie’. In 1960 he moved to Paris where he still lives and works. In his works Cruz-Diez systematically explores the impact of color and line, as well as their effect on the viewer. (fea)
