Good condition
This wooden sculpture was made in Bali, Indonesia and dates back to the late 19th century. Depicted is Nataraja - the king of the dance - a manifestation of Shiva, one of the most important gods of Hinduism. The latter is dressed in a richly pleated robe that is tied around the hips. The belly and the chest area are uncovered. He holds a drumin his hands and the right foot is supported by a mythical creature. The deity has a smiling facial expression, is wearing a crown on his head and is embellished with floral jewelry.
Condition:
The wooden sculpture is in good condition with traces of a former color version. Slight signs of age and wear such as little drying cracks and some loss of material here and there are visible. The height measures 36 cm. (lvp)
