2 pages, on the last 2 pages of a 4-page invitation with the first page printed and the recipient's name filled in. 18x12 cm. (7 ¼x4¾"). Undated, but likely the 1860s.

The printed first page of the invitation reads "Grand Opening Ball! To be given at the Summit Springs House on the Santa Guera Road, on Saturday Ev'ng, June 19th. Mr. [E.J. Kelly] and Ladies you are invited to attend..." The letter from James Sanders ask Mr. Kelly to come to the dance, where he would give him money he owed him, but to make sure Mary was going to come. An early and interesting piece of San Francisco Peninsula ephemera.

Condition

Folds, as it was mailed in a small envelope (not present); very good.
