Description
Group of 3 Chinese Sang de Bouef / Oxblood Vases in bulbous form, with elongated, flared necks. They measure one at 5", and two each 4.25" tall, the colors are gorgeous. Late Qing to early Republic period,all are signed with a 4 character blue underglaze mark that means Jingdezhen Zhi, which translates to Jingdezhen Make. Jingdezhen is known as the "Porcelain Capital" of China because it has been producing quality pottery and porcelain for 1700 years. Sang de Bouef (French: Oxblood) is an opaque claret red to brownish red reduced copper glaze developed in China during the K'ang Hsi period and used chiefly on porcelain wares......Provenance: A Summerville, South Carolina Private Collection.....Each Vase Measures 3.4x3.5x6.5 tall and combined weight is 1 pound 11 ounces....
