Sterling Silver Kirk Steiff 2-Piece Steak Carving Set in Repousse 1828. Stainless Blade. The Kirk firm was founded in 1815 by the then 22 year old Samuel Kirk. He had a partner named John Smith until 1820 and he then went on independently to found the oldest surviving silversmith shop in America. In 1828 he introduced a greatly admired and often imitated ornate repousse that became known as the "Baltimore Style". In 1979 the firm was purchased by Steiff (another well known Baltimore Silver firm) and the combined companies became known as Kirk-Steiff. No monograms.
