Description
A scarce and very hard to find 1939 Commerative Decanter from the well known firm of NV Koninklijke Plateelbakkerij Zuid Holland 1898-1964. Dated 1939, this piece was ost likely made to commemorate the birth of Her Royal Highness Princess Irene of The Netherlands, Princess of Orange-Nassau, Princess of Lippe-Biesterfeld to Queen Juliana & Prince Bernhard. The decanter features a wonderful figural orange crown stopper. The Art Nouveau and Art Deco period, prior to WWII, is considered by many collectors to be the best period for the design and quality of this firm. After WWII, business never fully recovered and they closed their doors for good in 1964.
