A Derby (Stevenson & Hancock, King St.) model of Dr. Syntax drawing after nature, second half 19th century, 13cm high, puce script baton mark with 'SH', paper label for the collection of FRANCES L. DICKSON ; two various Staffordshire porcelain cylindrical spill vases , mid 19th century, painted with Dr. Syntax subjects, 10cm & 10.5cm high; and a plate, circa 1830, printed and painted with a subject from the Doctor's travels, 21.5cm diameter Note: Dr. Syntax was a comic poem written by William Combe and illustrated by Thomas Rowlandson. It was first published in Ackermann's Poetical Magazine in 1809. The source material for this figure comes from the Rowlandson print 'Dr. Syntax drawing after nature'.
