Confirmation by Egidius, chatelain of Bapaume, a village to the south of Arras, of the sale of 31 mencaldatae of arable land by one of his vassals, Galterus son of Hugo de Laignicourt, to Adam of Bapaume, because of Galterus' poverty "proter paupertatem suam ingentem et evidentem", 29 lines, small tear in left hand margin, 255 x 308mm., June 1231 § Grant by Asso, bishop of Arras, confirming an earlier grant by his predecessor, bishop Frumoldus (1174-83) and the archdeacon at the time, Radulfus Ostrevanus, in 1181 of a prebend to Johannes Crispinus, one of the canons of the cathedral, to maintain a chantry in the church of the Virgin in Arras to say masses for the souls of all the previous bishops and archdeacons, in a decorative gothic documentary hand, a large initial capital, 27 lines, 305 x 223mm., June 1244, manuscripts in Latin, on vellum, lacks seals, browned, folds, some creasing ; and 3 other 13th century deeds relating to Arras, all tipped-in on card mounts, v.s., v.d.
