‘The Laser Unicorn Disintegrates the Horns of Cosmic Rhinoceroses’ is a print by Salvador Dalí (1904-1989) from the series ‘The Conquest of the Cosmos’, dating to 1974. At that time Dalí was as a representative of Surrealism one of the most prolific artists of Spain. Depicted is in a phantasy-like landscape, typical for Dalí, a mythical creature surrounded by a unicorn, a figure with a dip net and a raptor, similar to a phoenix. The print is partially heightened with an embossing. The dynamic style and the free compositional execution of the subject matter are characteristic for Dalí. The present print is an ‘Epreuve d’Artiste’, an artist proof that is signed by the artist.
Condition:
The sheet is minimally creased and marked by light along a former mat. On the reverse are remains of old adhesive stripes on the margins. The plate is 75.2 x 55.5 cm in size and the sheet 65.9 x 95.8 cm.
