‘The Bridegroom Leaps upon the Mountains’ is a print by Salvador Dalí (1904-1989) from the series ‘The Song of Songs of King Solomon’, dating to 1971. At that time Dalí was as a representative of Surrealism one of the most prolific artists of Spain. Depicted is a male figure appearing with a grand halo at the sky, in the foreground another figure in a broad landscape with a mountain chain at the horizon. The dynamic style and the free compositional execution of the subject matter are characteristic for Dalí. It is the print number 80 from a limited edition of 250 prints in total. The series ‘The Song of Songs of King Solomon’ is comprised of twelve engravings in total.



Condition:

The work is signed lower right in pencil. It is mounted in four points under a mat (reversible) and framed. The sheet is marked by light along the mat, besides that it is in good condition. The frame displays traces of wear. The plate is 40 x 25 cm in size, the sheet 57 x 38.4 cm and the total dimensions, including the frame, are 61.5 x 46.6 cm.
