Very good condition

This work by Corneille is characterized by the use of intense colours. In its reduced and two-dimensional way of painting it depicts two birds, one head in profil and a figure with Mohican haircut, inspired by Native American art.



The print is in a very good condition. Signed, numbered and dated middle right ‘Corneille. 30/120. 2000‘, it measures 62 x 50 cm. The frame shows minimal signs of use.



Corneille (1922-2010)

Corneille studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in the Netherlands. He had his first solo exhibition in 1946. One year later he joined the artist movement ‘Reflex’, together with Karel Appel and Constant Nieuwenhuys, followed by the founding of the CoBrA group in Paris only one year later. In 1949 Corneille travelled through many exotic countries, showing the influence in his work. He later finally settled in Paris, where he lived and worked until his death in 1950.
