Erin Cone is still a secret among the young talented artists from New Mexico

Erin Cone’s paintings oscillate between the poles of detailed reproduction and graphic stylization. Cone usually presents her beautiful female figures in front of delicately colored backgrounds and renders them portrait-like features that still cannot be identified as such. The painter develops her motifs in a creative process influenced by classical drawings and photographic works (that usually depict herself). In the end she transfers a subtle mixture of different elements onto her canvas, as seen here in the present printed version of the painting ‘Falter’.



The Lambda color print is in mint condition. It is number 70 from a limited edition of 100 copies and has been laminated on Alu-Dibond. The image size is equal to the sheet size of 100 x 123 cm. The LUMAS edition certificate with all typographic indications on the work is attached to the verso; it is signed by the artist ‘Erin Cone’.



Erin Cone (b. 1971)

Graceful female figures define the central motif of the artistic output of Erin Cone. Born in Lubbock, Texas, Cone was trained in painting at the University of Texas in Austin. Since 2003, she has regularly presented her works in solo and group exhibitions in the US and was also cited in well-known art magazines such as the Architectural Digest Magazine. Examples of her impressive works are included in many international collections, e.g. The Tullman Collection in Chicago and the Standard Chartered Bank in London. Erin Cone lives and works in Santa Fe. (cbo)
