1844 Letter Authorizing the Creation of Garrison Flags, Philadelphia, PA, Choice Extremely Fine.
Autograph Letter Signed, "Henry Stanton Ast. Qtr Mast. Sergt." in brown ink on one-page, 9.5" x 8" sheet of paper, addressed to Capt. E.S. Fayssoue at the U.S. Arsenal:
"Sir, The Garrison Flags making by Sarah Downey & those that will be made to complete the arsenal supply, are to be all 35 feet fly. These are in future to be issued to the Army on the requisitions from the office. The large size Garrison Flags (40 feet fly) are to be reserved for Special Orders..." Very nice, sharp manuscript; one tape reinforcement to an edge split on the back. Unique Content!
