Vintage May 30, 1882 AMERICAN FIRE DEPARTMENT Sectional Picture Puzzle Boxed Set by Milton Bradley. Contains 4 puzzles which are 13-1/2" x 7". One of the puzzles is 27" x 7". The sections formpanels depict color images of early fire fighting machintery. Also includes the original chromo-lithographed guide sheet that measures 5-1/4" x 6-3/4". Original wooden box has a lid showing a large pictorial lithographed label showing firemen rescuing a child, and a label on the inside cover describing this toy and reproducing the panels as three small wood engravings. The set represents a complete modern american fire department, consisting of a steamer, hose, carriage, chemical, engine, insurance patrol team and hook and ladder truck, on the run to a fire. A child would construct the scenes like a puzzle, and the individual vehicles could be placed in any order within the freeze. This was part of a Victorian & Edwardian game and puzzle collection aquired from the Detroit Antique Toy Museum. (Inventory code board2)
