This particular color combination is usually indicative of tourmaline from the state of Paraiba, village of Sao Jose da Batalha in northeastern Brazil. However, the origin for this tourmaline is determined to be the African Continent. African Paraiba color Tourmaline was first discovered in 2001 at the Edoukou Mine in Oyo Nigeria, close to the border of Benin and more recently in Zambezia, Mozambique. African Paraiba is believed to exist due to the continental drift theory. 200+ million years ago the earth's continents were joined together in one enormous super-continent called Pangaea.
