Victor David Brenner (1871-1924)

Born in Lithuania, Victor David Brenner learned the art of engraving of seals and gems from his father. In 1890, he emigrated to the United States, where he remained mostly in New York. Around 1900, he moved to Paris and studied at the Académie Julian under the medalist Oscar Roty. He received awards for his works at the Paris World's Fair. A short time later, he went back to the States. Brenner’s probably most famous work is the ‘Lincoln Cent’ from 1918, which also show Brenner’s initials. (cko)
