Taken from a low angle and filled with texture, this photograph of American painter Keith Haring depicts the artist as he paints a set for Grace Jones during her New Year’s Eve Concert. The bold graphic forms rise across the page until the eye rests on the artist, dressed in black. Kneeling low above the canvas, the only disruption in the pattern is the line of blank ground that allows the artist to exit the field.
Executed in 1987, this gelatin silver print is signed and titled, with the artist’s stamp verso. The sheet measures 15 ¾ x 19 5/8 inches. In overall good condition.
