In 1957, the Ford line up of cars grew in size substantially to prior models. A new frame was engineered as was a specially designed differential allowing the floor to be lowered in placement. A new frame rail contributed to moving the perimeter rails out to fully envelope the passengers. The new design provided for a lower and longer stance to the chassis. The 1957 Fairlane retained a single headlight front end as had its predecessors. However, the appearance was unmistakable with its long sides and tail fins.
