Interesting about this cabinet from a monastery, is that it can only be accessed from the back and served as a storage for scrolls. The front side offers a tasteful composition of two larger rectangular fields and three smaller above. Their fillings are deep and embellished with bars, the inner-most with recessed edges. Fillings also on the sides. Below the over-hanging shelf on top, a key-meander carved in relief. This cabinet is entirely painted in red and decorated with a lacquer-technique relief. The patterns are geometric to floral, also recognizable are meanders and spirals. An open compartment on the back, another with two doors above. Old patina, signs of wear, overall a curious work.
