A lovely porcelain ball cane of a maiden in prayer. The porcelain ball handle is 1 1/2" in diameter. It is elaborately decorated with gold scrolls on a pale yellow background. The top features a hand-painting of a pretty maiden in a dark blue dress with her hands cupped in prayer. There is a 1" decorated gold cup/collar that has a smooth oval cartouche. The shaft is dark bamboo that ends with a 7/8" replaced brass ferrule. The overall length is 37" and the condition is very good. It is probably English, ca 1895, and it is a beautiful, finely fashioned example of the type. Estimate: $450-$650.
