Description
A beautiful cut glass and enamel cane, with a snake and diamonds. The round knob handle is 7/8" high and 1 1/3" across the top. It is cut glass fashioned in lines and starbursts, and it has muted red highlights. There is a 1" purple enamel collar with guilloche that is framed by two gold rings. A silver snake with tiny cabochon amethyst eyes is overlaid on the enamel. The encircling snake is inlaid with many tiny rose-cut diamonds. Additionally, a larger rose-cut diamond decorates the snake’s head. The shaft is coromandel rosewood that ends with 1" replaced brass ferrule. The overall length is 35 7/8" and the condition is very good with almost all of the encircling diamonds present. It is perhaps Continental, ca 1900, and it is splendid decorative example. Estimate: $900-$1300.
