Item Details

Description

A very fine cane of a mastiff. The ivory handle is 2 3/4" high and 2" at its widest. It depicts the nicely fashioned head of an English mastiff with short floppy ears, amber glass eyes, and mouth agape with fangs bared. There is a 3/4" lined silver collar on a tan malacca shaft that ends with a 2" horn ferrule. The overall length is 36 2/3" and the condition is very good. It is perhaps English ca 1910, and it is a very fine animal figural example of a popular 19th Century breed. Estimate: $1000-$1500.
