Description
A rare English Coronet midget camera cane. The brown bakelite squared handle is 3 1/3" high and 1 1/4" deep. Just below the viewing window on one side, there a bright, lightly rusted tin plate that says: " Coronet Midget", 26mm Film", " Made by the Coronet Camera Co., Birmingham", "British Patents Applied For" and "Design registered". On other sides there is a wheel for advancing film, a lever that clicks to take pictures, a window that can advise how many exposures remain, and a hinged door for loading film. All camera mechanics appear to be in working order. A smooth brown bakelite base completes the handle. There is a thin wooden separator on a light brown hardwood shaft that ends with a 2 3/4" horn ferrule. The overall length is 35 1/3" and the general condition is very good. It is ca 1920?s, and it is a very scarce example from the great collection of the late Philip Hampton. Estimate: $8000-$12000.
