Description
A great relic and presentation cane to W. Jenks. The ivory knob handle is 1 1/2" high and 1 1/4" at its widest. It is inscribed on the top: "C.S. to W. Jenks" and near the base: "From an elm planted by Rev. Edwards". ( Research is needed to determine all identities and their significance.) There are oval silver eyelets on the elm relic shaft that ends with a 2 1/2" burnished brass ferrule, with a protruding iron tip. The overall length is 34 1/3" and the condition is very good. It is American, ca1850, and it was acquired from the Jenks estate, Bedford Mass. It is a fine example of the kind. Estimate: $1200-$1800.
