Frederick Church Twice-Signed Funny Illustrated Letter
FREDERICK S. CHURCH, American Artist & Whimsical Illustrator.
February 28, 1904-Dated Illustrated Autograph Letter Signed Twice, “F.S. Church,” 1 page, octavo, folded size 5” x 8”, Extremely Fine. Here, Church writes, in full: “Carnegie Hall, N.Y., Sep. 28, 1904. My dear Mr. Morrow, All right use in Catalogue if you choose. Yours, F.S. Church.” Below his text is a wonderful, funny Signed Original Illustration, approximately 3.5” square, of a Bear sketching a posed Rabbit. The drawing is in ink, with color lightly applied to the rabbit. There is a caption “Our Artist” below. Church’s signature appear a second time beneath the bear in the lower right. Very cute!
Frederick Stuart Church (1842-1924) was an American artist and illustrator, known for his whimsical paintings of young women, birds and animals.
