ANDREW JACKSON (1767-1845). Seventh President of the United States (1829–1837), a Politician and Army General who defeated the Creek Indians at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend (1814), and the British at the Battle of New Orleans (1815).
June 14, 1834-Dated Partly-Printed Vellum Document Signed, “Andrew Jackson” as President of the United States, measuring approximately 11.5” x 9”, Choice Extremely Fine. This Naval Commission appointing Charles H. Cotton as a Midshipman in the U.S. Navy was signed by President Andrew Jackson. Also signed by the Secretary of the Navy. On vellum with original paper seal affixed with wax is still present and document and seal are both in excellent condition. Some visible folds and a small tear on the right edge, not affecting print or signature. Jackson’s signature is very large, measuring almost 5.5” across. This Document is worth a premium, being in exceptional above average condition and excellent for display.
