Textile documents, mainly French brocaded silks, 18th century, seven panels of brocade including a 1735 Jean Ravel chasuble back woven with realistic fruit, Lyonaise 1740s large-scale palmette repeats, 1770s stripes; and an English chintz applique panel with cord outlining, late 18th century (8) Provenance: Roderick Taylor collection
Condition
ā¢ Jean Ravel blue ground floral- 18x38in ā 2cm split, faint brown stain top right corner, large watermark running across the centre
ā¢ Red floral- 21.5x30in ā repairs to lower border, good colours
ā¢ Purple silk brocade- 18x23in ā slightly faded, slight wear
ā¢ Red/blue embroidered and appliqued chintz- 16x30in ā slight fading, good condition
ā¢ Peach silk brocade- 21x31in ā 10x2cm frayed area along lower edge, some of the ivory lampas threads are rubbed
ā¢ Pale pink striped silk with floral garlands- 49x50.5in ā faded, some grey discolourations, looks as though itās been washed
ā¢ Brocade with orange & gold stripe, green trees- 30x50.5in ā generally good condition, slight wear to gold threads
ā¢ Gold with stripes and large floral garlands- 23x 52in ā faint stains, faded, fair condition
