Description
An attractive Persian heavy bronze buckle with the head of a lion in relief, c. 5th - 4th Century BC, with original tongue and pin. The frame is quite substantial, the detailed head of the lion straddling the narrowest point, the tongue emerging from its mouth. L: 3 1/8 in (7.9 cm). Thick original patination. Ex J. L. Malter collection, acquired in the 1970’s.
