Description
A large Etruscan bronze offering pan for heating wine, c. 4th - 2nd Century BC, with wide, shallow bowl resting on four low feet, each in the form of cockle shells. The rim is wide and flattened and continues onto the sides of the long handle, which terminates in the head of a swan. L: 23 ¾ in (60.2 cm); Dia: 12 in (30.4 cm). Untouched green patination, circular area in pan where another vessel was sitting its removal leaving a different textures. A large and impressive piece! Ex Orange County private collection.
