Description
A Central Asian glass medallion depicting a sacrificial scene. c. 7th - 10th Century AD. In yellow-brown and depicts a bearded man wearing a kilt, axe over his left shoulder, a ram he is about to sacrifice before him, a smaller animal to left, the forepart of another ram to right. Dia: 4.7 cm. A nice example with light deposits. Dobkin 446 has three large disks of horses from Iran, 8th Century AD, and Al-Sabah has a similar style medallion no. 73a as Central Asian. Glass of the Sultans, pp. 50-52 depicts three large glass medallions of similar composure, Sasanian and Post-Sasanian. Ex Time Machine, St. Louis.
