From Dr. Seuss to Penthouse magazine, Art Cummings was a renowned illustrator and cartoonist. Born in 1919, he was an early contributor to the left wing newspaper "Tribune". He singlehandedly took over the illustration art for the "Essence of Parliament" from A.W. Lloyd in 1953. He is believed to be the only cartoonist to have caricatured every British Prime Minister from Churchill to Blair. He was a brilliant communicator, humorist and political satirist.The Berndt Toast Gang, which is the Long Island chapter of the National Cartoonists Society, called Art "a quiet genius".While he was prolific on numerous fronts, at Penthouse and Omni magazine he was perhaps best known for the series "Balloonheads", a brilliant series of balloon images conveying sexual and political messages.Medium:
