This sketched portrait shows a young man. He has a rosy complexion, blue eyes and short straight hair. His gaze is directed straight at the viewer. Louise Wagner (1875-1950) was educated at Munich's private school for Graphic Arts under John Brockhoff and Moritz Heymann. In addition, she studied further in Königsberg and Travemünde and studied a semester in Weimar. In addition to landscapes and cityscapes of her North German homeland, the artist also created many portraits.

The oil sketch is stamped on verso ‘Louise M. Wagner Nachlass’. The sheet bears partly occasional foxmarks. The condition is good. It measures 40 x 31.5 cm. (fea)
