Description
Vid svoei radyanskoi vladi chekayut dopomogi. Vryatue vsih zibrannih v sviy chas prodpodatok [The Hungry Expect Help From Their Soviet Government. Deliver the Prodnalog (Food Tax in Kind) On Time. ], a Ukrainian language poster by an anonymous artist. [All-Ukrainian State Publishing, DVU], Kiev, 1921. 71 x 52 cm.

A powerful poster, somewhat reminiscent of Moor’s Famine Relief appeal works of the same period. The poster’s call for peasants to comply with the prodnalog quotas, a traditional theme of the Soviet propaganda in early 1920s, is reinforced in this casae by a humanitarian appeal to save the starving people of Central Russia. It is estimated the Volga Famine of 1921 killed over 6,000,000 people.
