( Lt.-Col. Henry Hope) Sketches of the Campaign in India, first edition, 36 mounted albumen prints of sketches by Crealock on 25 sheets, 9 over-painted with watercolours (mostly portraits of rulers), captions, numbers and imprints in pencil at foot, with additional over-painted plate numbered 37 and titled 'Retributive Justice; The Fate of Hackell's Murderer' depicting a hanged man bound at end (not listed in text), title and text with very wide margins, title and text leaves creased, title and the first leaf severely torn and defective, foxed, some plates a little faded and discoloured, bookplate of Princess Alexandra Feodorovna, contemporary red morocco, gilt, g.e., rather worn, covers detached, large folio, J.Hogarth, 1861. Scarce. Crealock's sketches depict the campaign in India in 1858 following the Indian Mutiny, under the command of Sir Colin Campbell. There are scenes of action at Bareilly, Shahjahanpur and Doundeakeira and other pursuits such as duck-shooting and going out to dinner mounted on elephants at Lucknow.
