A mid 19th century gold gem-set 'Regard' locket. Of heart-shape outline, the replacement vari-shape ruby, emerald, garnet, amethyst, diamond and turquoise, to the floral and foliate surround and reverse. Length 4cms. Weight 8.2gms.

Overall condition good. Surface scratches and minor discolouration in keeping with general wear and age. Gems vary in hue tone and saturation. Diamond bright and lively. Light and dark coloured inclusions can be seen with magnification. Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate and full colour and clarity assessment. Stones in good to fair condition, with some abrasion and minor nibbles to the girdle and facet edges. Vacant glazed panel to inner compartment.
