Description
Serial # 9139 According to the factory letter, this pistol was shipped on October 25th, 1912 in a shipment of 1,000 guns to the Brooklyn Naval Yard. The Navy Model 1911 was manufactured between 1912 and 1915. This is a standard Model 1911 with a 5" barrel, blued finish, checkered diamond walnut grips, and chambered for the .45 ACP cartridge. The right side of the slide is stamped "Model of 1911 U.S. Navy", left side of frame is stamped "United States Property". The left side of the frame has the Walter G. Pennfield inspector stamp (1911-1914). Has all proper parts including smooth long trigger, short checkered wide-spur hammer, correct sights, correct diamond checkered walnut grips, and an original Colt lanyard loop magazine (magazine does not have keyhole slot). The gun remains in all original fine condition. Grip straps have worn to a blue-silver patina. Remainder of gun retains 85% original factory blue finish with the balance smooth even wear. An extremely fine condition and all original Colt Navy, proper in all respects. Gun has a light drag line and the barrel is a period stamped Springfield replacement (stamped "SP" on lug). This gun has been completely disassembled and examined by noted 1911 expert Eric Gustafson who has confirmed that this gun is completely original.
