Description
18th Dynasty, 1550-1292 BC. A glazed composition amuletic pendant of the god Sekhmet shown seated in profile with staff and solar crown; mounted in a modern silver frame and backing with maker's mark to the reverse, above a transverse red and yellow mosaic glass panel; suspended from a silver pin. 17 grams, 56mm (2 1/4"). Ex Gaunt collection by descent; acquired from Nassar Brothers, Antiquities dealers, Egypt by the vendor's grandfather in 1930, with a copy of the original invoice stating found at Behnessah and Luxor, Egypt.
