Culture: Pre-Columbian Classification: Mayan K'iché Maya of southern Guatemala Date: 600 AD - 850 AD Size: 7 1/2 inches diameter Description: A deeply carved Maya bowl showing the matte designs that represent rulership. Two flying Hero Twins which are often represented by the corn plant from which they were born. Each holds a corn plant in their hands. Deep and detailed carvings, a very nice piece. Provenance: Stanley Harding Boggs ( Ohio , United States , 1910 - San Salvador , El Salvador , 1991 ) was an American archaeologist who worked and developed the archaeology in El Salvador , and who is known as the Father of Archaeology Salvadoran. By decent to Bernal Family Collection.
Condition
A couple of small chips to inside and bottom, stable hairline crack else perfect.
