Description
Both celadon green with calcifications, elongated form, Liangzhu culture (2800 B.C.) L of longest 20.2 cm.(8 in.) Note: The awl ornament has been found in burial tombs next to the head of the deceased suggesting it to have been for the hair.

Provenance: The following Lots 1151 through 1176 belong to the collection of Irving Langleb. Langleb was a known buyer and collector in Japan during the 1950s through to 1967. He was actively involved in the industry and trade at the time and spent a fair amount of time researching and knowledgeably purchasing quality antiques. The jade and stone carvings were offered in our November 25th, 2014 catalogue auction and sold exceptionally well. Sadly the buyers of these wonderful pieces did not settle their outstanding bill. The buyers are: Shi Zhiyong 史志勇 who currently works for Hanhai auction 北京翰海拍卖有限公司 in China and Cai Boyang 蔡博阳.
Condition
Shorter awl has an old crack at the tip, taller example is well worn from significant age.
