Description

The AEAA is very pleased to present this spectacular hand painted 1920s Nippon home market lobed, Chrysanthemum floral medallion center bowl. Our example is finished in a brilliant Cobalt over Turquoise ground with fantastic Chrysanthemum medallions and incredible gilt beading accents. This piecrust rim treasure is 9.75 x 9.75 X 3 inches high, weighs 1# 8 oz. and is in excellent condition, with minor kiln specks on the exterior. The base mark is difficult to ID, however, we have found a couple of Tokyo Pottery marks very similar, and there are several examples of the Tokyo (ca. 1920-1930) which are a dead match for our ground color combination, as well as the gilt highlights + the bowl form. Thus, we believe this is a great & valuable home market only, Tokyo Pottery center bowl. Remember: Both the 1891 & 1921 McKinley Tariff Acts mandated a country of origin stamp, UNLESS ITEMS WERE NEVER INTENDED FOR EXPORT TO THE U.S.
