Description
A Voigtlander Sohn No. 2038 German Binoculars for U.S. Navy 5747. These Binoculars were owned by W.N. Cranshaw Hamilton 5747 NY.
" U.S.S. Antigone 15 December 1918. These binoculars have been in constant use on board the U.S.S. Antigone (Troop Transport) from March to December 1918. They were used by officers in charge of fire-control stations and at the 5-inch battery, to locate enemy submarines. They were used to observe the U.S.S. President Lincoln after she had been torpedoed by a German U-boat on the morning of 31 May 1918.
Additionally grouped in this lot is a Lemaire Fabt French Field Glasses.
