Höchst Porcelain Manufactory (est. 1746)

The Höchst Porcelain Manufactory was founded in 1746. It is the second oldest company after the Meissen manufactory in Germany and was under the privilege of the Elector of Mainz, Johann Carl von Ostein. Johann Heinrich Maas was the manager of the company, and Laurentius Russinger was the leading modeler. In 1766, Johann Peter Melchior became the model master of the manufactory. From 1792, the factory was shut down in consequence of the French Revolutionary Wars and the occupation of Mainz. In 1796 followed the official closure. In 1947, the company was re-established with a manufacturing plant in Frankfurt-Sossenheim. In 1965, the production was re-established a second time, establishing a production plant in Frankfurt Unterliederbach. Starting in 1977, the headquarters was located at the Dalberger house in Frankfurt-Höchst. Since 1996, the production has been located in the new Porzellanhof am Park in Frankfurt-Höchst, which is the new headquarters since 2002. (cko)
