Colouful enamel cloisonne and gilding. China, Qing dynasty approx. about 1800
A decorated footed-bowl, rich in detail. Tall, flared foot and on top of it, a broad, flat bowl. In its well is a round reserve with the depiction of three billy goats beneath a towering pine tree. On a cloud, a small red sun disc and the character ri for sun within it. On the banner, flowers, butterflies and birds. Rowed ruyi-heads as symbols of "long life" around the rim, as well as mighty pine trees. The goats here symbolise "a secluded life in the mountains". Floral decor on the foot, vases with outwardly swinging flowers on the underside of the bowl. The bars, lip and foot-rim are gilded. Overall, a very fine work in beautiful colours.
