Description
Perhaps surprisingly, Ann Arbor had just two national banks. The early bank, charter 22, is especially rare, having only issued first charters. Charter 2714 opened the same day charter 22 closed, and it never had any other national banking competition. The only other brown back known on the town is in F/VF condition and sold for just over $8,000 in 2007. This new discovery note easily becomes the best note on the bank and should be of interest to any Michigan collectors or University of Michigan graduates.
