Item Details
Description
Islamic, ca. 1200 to 1400 CE. An impressive buff terracotta single-handled vessel of an ovoid form, a graduated neck, supported on a short foot. Despite the fact that it is unglazed, the piece boasts an extensive decorative program. Note that the surface was incised with linear striations, a wide register of curvilinear and organic nature-inspired forms, and stamped with a lower register of petite spiraled motifs. A fine example! Size: 6-7/8\"H x 4\" to handle.
