Description
A nice Egyptian faience ring with cartouche of Thutmose III, Late New Kingdom, c. 1200 - 1075 BC, topped by a solar disk, erect cobras to either side and a ‘neb’ sign below. The prenomen of the great 18th Dynasty pharaoh Thutmose III in this case is amuletic in nature as witnessed by the name’s numerous appearances on scarabs and amulets during the late New Kingdom and beyond, even incorporated into the names of later pharaohs and high priests. The ring with exceptionally preserved brilliant blue color. 20 x 12 x 19mm. Repaired from three parts. Ex Hamdy Sakr collection, London, acquired in the 1960’s - 1970’s.
