Description
A lovely Apulian red-figure lidded oinochoe, 4thc. 320BC, from the workshop of the Baltimore painter, and depicts the head of a winged female wearing a diadem, earrings, and necklace; her hair in a sakkos, the lid with female head and palmettes. H: 7 ¼ in (18.4cm). Small chip on side of body, otherwise intact and a very important piece from a known painter. Ex Royal Athena Galleries, New York acquired at Bonhams London October 2003.
