Description
His most famous hit of all, in a 1960 meeting with the New York Giants, knocked Frank Gifford out of competition for eighteen months. Later that year, he'd seal the second of his two NFL Championship seasons with a touchdown-saving stop of Packers legend Jim Taylor as time expired.
The eight-time Pro Bowler is one of only eight Eagles honored by jersey retirement, and a first-ballot inductee into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1967, when this massive size fourteen and a half (14.5) ring was first placed upon his finger. The logo of the Hall of Fame is embossed in gold onto a blue stone on the ring's face, which is encircled by raised text reporting, "Pro Football's Hall of Fame."Â Left shank reads "Center"Â above imagery of the museum's facade, while right shank features imagery of game action framed between text reading, "Chuck Bednarik"Â and "Elected 1967." Â Interior band is stamped "Balfour 10k." Â Fine condition.
