Description
Manner of Henry Moore (British, 1898-1986). "Figure with Sweeping Arms", carved driftwood, apparently unsigned. A modernist figural sculpture carved from a fragment of driftwood, the lower half of figure's body being flattened at the hips displaying thick thighs over very narrow and pointed shins that are crossed, the figure's torso turning away from legs and with expressive arms suggesting motion, possibly in prayer, to its front below a very narrow neck and head. The sculpture mounted to a later rectangular black painted wood plinth. Overall approximately 14.5" x 9.75" x 8.5".
